Bitcoin Holds Firm Against Dollar Pressure
As of October 13, the crypto market is showing a volatile outlook, with Bitcoin trading at around $83,900 and Ethereum near $2,530. The US Dollar Index has reached its highest level in 18 months, while South Korean technology stocks have come under heavy selling pressure. Bitcoin, however, recovered from the $81,000 region despite weakness in Asian markets, while Ethereum is showing a notable divergence between a large leveraged position and continued ETF outflows.

Market Perspective: A Stronger Dollar Tests Risk Appetite

The US Dollar Index rose to 102.56 on October 12, reaching its highest region since April 2025. A stronger dollar, together with expectations that US interest rates could remain elevated for longer, can tighten funding conditions for risk assets. Bitcoin remaining around $83,000 during the same period shows why the dollar rally is also being closely watched by the crypto market.
At the same time, Bitcoin diverged in the short term from the sharp technology sell-off in South Korean equities on October 13. Although the KOSPI ended the day 5.46% lower, Bitcoin recovered from an intraday low near $81,000 to around $83,900. US consumer inflation data for September will be released on October 14 and will be one of the week’s key macroeconomic indicators for interest-rate expectations.

ETF Flows: Outflows Continue in Bitcoin and Ethereum

According to Farside data, US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $65.4 million in net outflows on October 12. Spot Ethereum ETFs recorded $85.4 million in net outflows on the same day. Combined daily outflows across the two asset groups therefore reached approximately $150.8 million.
Across the eight trading sessions from October 1 through October 12, Bitcoin ETFs recorded approximately $451.7 million in net outflows, while Ethereum ETFs recorded approximately $720.4 million in net outflows. Combined October outflows across the two asset groups therefore reached approximately $1.17 billion.
The negative streak has lasted longer for Ethereum. Net outflows were recorded in 10 consecutive trading sessions from September 29 through October 12, with Farside data showing total withdrawals of approximately $782.8 million. This indicates weaker short-term ETF demand, but it does not by itself provide a definitive conclusion about the direction of long-term Ethereum demand.

Stronger Dollar Adds to Bitcoin’s Macro Pressure

The US Dollar Index reaching 102.56 reflects foreign-exchange markets pricing in expectations that the Fed may not ease policy significantly in the near term. The US 10-year Treasury yield also rose to 5.35% on October 8, testing its highest region in 24 years. A strong dollar and high bond yields occurring at the same time can affect the relative appeal of assets that do not generate yield or carry higher volatility.
This does not mean that Bitcoin must necessarily decline. The dollar, bond yields, ETF flows and spot-market demand can diverge at different points in time. A single move in the Dollar Index should therefore be assessed within broader funding conditions rather than treated as a direct price signal for Bitcoin.
The market’s next major test will be the US CPI report for September, scheduled for October 14. The BLS confirms that the data will be released at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time. Changes in the inflation outlook could lead to renewed repricing of interest-rate expectations ahead of the Fed’s October 27–28 meeting.

Bitcoin Diverges From South Korea’s Technology Sell-Off

South Korea’s KOSPI index closed 5.46% lower at 6,035.35 on October 13. The index fell by more than 7% intraday, with technology and semiconductor shares leading to the decline. Foreign investors sold approximately 4.51 trillion won worth of equities on a net basis during the session.
Bitcoin, meanwhile, recovered from around $81,000 to as high as $83,944 during the same period. Unlike some risk-off episodes in August, Bitcoin therefore did not move in lockstep with the daily decline in Asian technology stocks. However, concentrated sell orders around $84,000 made it difficult for the price to remain above that region in the short term.
A one-day divergence does not mean that Bitcoin has become permanently independent of equity markets. US inflation data, bond yields and the outlook for global technology stocks could change the relationship between the two markets again in the coming sessions.

Large Ethereum Position Moves Against ETF Outflows

According to on-chain tracking data, a large market participant opened a leveraged long position of approximately 24,000 ETH, worth around $60.7 million, after Ethereum’s sharp pullback. At the time the source report was published, the position showed approximately $2.6 million in unrealized profit. The same participant was reported to have closed 14 of 15 previous trades profitably, generating approximately $29.75 million in total profit.
Past trading performance, however, does not predict the outcome of the current position. In the latest market decline, leveraged long positions suffered approximately $688.6 million in liquidations in a single day. A large investor’s position should therefore not be treated as a verified signal of market direction, but rather as an individual data point reflecting risk appetite in derivatives markets.
This development relates to trading activity in foreign derivatives markets and does not change the service framework applicable in Türkiye. Crypto asset service providers in Türkiye are subject to SPK regulation and supervision, while unauthorized crypto asset service provision and leveraged trading activities are among the areas monitored by the Board.

CoinTR Insight

Today’s three developments show that spot prices, traditional financial markets and leveraged positions can produce different signals at the same time in the crypto market. Bitcoin showed relative short-term resilience as the dollar strengthened and South Korean technology stocks fell sharply. In Ethereum, meanwhile, a large leveraged position was opened while ETF investors continued to withdraw capital, highlighting how different investor groups can interpret the same market conditions differently.
During periods when macroeconomic data and capital flows can change direction quickly, liquidity and gradual order management remain important. CoinTR’s deep liquidity infrastructure and strong USDT/TRY trading flow are among the infrastructure features that support more controlled transaction management under changing market conditions.

Forward-Looking Takeaway

  • October 14 US inflation: September CPI data will be important in determining whether the recent rise in the dollar and bond yields continue. Changes in rate expectations following the release could be reflected in the pricing of Bitcoin and other risk assets.
  • Bitcoin ETF flows: Whether the $65.4 million outflow recorded on October 12 continues will be closely watched. A further increase in the approximately $451.7 million of accumulated October outflows could make the short-term cooling in ETF demand more pronounced.
  • Asian technology stocks: Whether the KOSPI’s five-day selling pressure eases or spreads to other global technology indices will provide more meaningful evidence about whether Bitcoin’s latest daily divergence can persist.
  • Ethereum leverage: Rather than focusing on individual large positions, the market will need to watch how overall liquidations, ETF outflows and spot demand evolve together. A position taken by an investor with a successful historical record should not be treated as a standalone reference for market direction.
