As of October 22, the
crypto market is showing active price movement, with Bitcoin trading at around $84,600 and Ethereum near $2,490. Bitcoin ETFs have attracted more than $1 billion in new capital over three trading sessions, while Ethereum is facing greater competition in network revenue and its share of tokenized assets. In stablecoins, the potential for AI agents to increase future demand for digital dollars is being discussed as the United States publishes its final rules implementing the GENIUS Act.
Market Perspective: Capital Flows Are Concentrating in Bitcoin Again
Bitcoin price tested above $84,700 on October 21 before pulling back, but it is trading above the $84,000 region again on October 22. The most notable development accompanying the latest price action has been three consecutive trading sessions of net inflows into US spot Bitcoin ETFs.
Elsewhere in crypto infrastructure, the picture is different. Ethereum’s third-quarter network revenue declined as newer public blockchains gained market share in trading volume and revenue. In stablecoins, meanwhile, attention is shifting away from short-term price movements toward payments, settlement and programmable-money infrastructure that could eventually be used by software agents.
ETF Flows: Bitcoin’s Three-Day Streak Exceeds $1 Billion
According to Farside data, US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded approximately $524.8 million in net inflows on October 21. Combined with inflows of $526.7 million on October 19 and $23.2 million on October 20, the three-day total reached approximately $1.07 billion.
Spot Ethereum ETFs recorded $14.9 million in net inflows on October 21. This ended a five-trading-day outflow streak from October 14 through October 20. However, with combined outflows of $129.4 million on October 19 and 20, the latest positive session has not yet offset the preceding losses.
Solana ETFs also recorded approximately $600,000 in net inflows on October 21, ending a 13-trading-day negative streak. Combined net inflows into Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs during the latest session reached approximately $539.7 million. While the daily recovery is notable, consistency across several sessions will provide a more meaningful indication of the direction of fund demand.
Institutional Demand Accelerates Again in Bitcoin ETFs
Approximately $1.07 billion flowed into
Bitcoin ETFs over three sessions, marking a clear change after two consecutive weeks of outflows. On October 21, around $235 million of the inflows were concentrated in one fund, while another received $212.7 million. This distribution shows that overall demand was strong but was not evenly spread across the ETF market.
Bitcoin rose as high as $84,777 during the same session before pulling back again. Stronger ETF inflows therefore do not imply uninterrupted price appreciation. Spot selling, macroeconomic conditions and broader risk appetite can balance the price impact of new fund inflows in the short term.
The three-day positive streak provides an important indication that institutional demand is recovering, but additional sessions will be needed before describing the shift as durable. Continued consecutive inflows could signal a stronger change in demand following the previous two-week period of outflows.
Competition for Ethereum Network Revenue Intensifies
According to ARK Invest’s Q3 2026
DeFi report, Ethereum generated approximately $41 million in network revenue, while a newly launched public blockchain generated around $51 million during the quarter. Ethereum’s network revenue declined by approximately 35% from the second quarter.
Ethereum’s share of tokenized real-world assets also declined from roughly 50% at the end of June to 44%. Even so, Ethereum remains the market leader with approximately $16.7 billion in tokenized asset value. Decentralized trading volume on Ethereum also declined by around 27% quarter over quarter, indicating that user activity is becoming more distributed across newer networks.
However, it would be inaccurate to interpret the revenue comparison as evidence that Ethereum has completely lost its infrastructure role. The new chain highlighted in the source report settles its transactions on Ethereum and uses ETH for transaction fees. Competition between Ethereum and newer networks is therefore increasing, while some of those ecosystems continue to rely on Ethereum infrastructure.
Network revenue, tokenized-asset share and trading volume should therefore be assessed together. Lower revenue in a single quarter does not by itself determine the long-term direction of Ethereum usage or demand for ETH.
AI Usage and New US Rules Put Stablecoins in Focus
Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire believes that AI agents capable of carrying out economic transactions autonomously could increase future demand for digital dollars and blockchain-based financial infrastructure. Allaire emphasized potential stablecoin use across payments, trading, lending and investment infrastructure, but did not provide a numerical estimate for the potential scale of AI-driven demand.
The source report said the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency was preparing to finalize the
GENIUS Act regulations. However, the OCC officially published the final rule on October 21. The regulation covers areas including reserve assets, redemption, risk management, supervision, reporting, custody and capital requirements, and will take effect on January 18, 2027.
The regulatory framework for the US stablecoin sector is therefore clearer than it was a day earlier. However, the extent to which AI agents will increase stablecoin usage remains a forward-looking assumption and does not guarantee current transaction volumes or future stablecoin demand.
The US GENIUS Act framework does not change payment or crypto asset regulations in Türkiye. The Regulation on the Disuse of Crypto Assets in Payments remains part of the TCMB’s current payment-services framework. The expansion of stablecoin payment infrastructure in the United States should therefore not be interpreted as meaning that the same use cases are permitted in Türkiye.
CoinTR Insight
Today’s three developments show that capital demand and infrastructure adoption can move at different speeds across the crypto market. Bitcoin ETFs have attracted more than $1 billion in new capital over three days, while Ethereum is facing more intense competition from newer blockchains in network revenue and trading activity. In stablecoins, meanwhile, the discussion is shifting away from price performance toward how regulated digital-money infrastructure could be used in an era of AI and automation.
During periods when fund flows can accelerate quickly, liquidity and gradual order management remain important. CoinTR’s deep liquidity infrastructure and strong
USDT/TRY trading flow are among the infrastructure features that support more controlled transaction management under changing market conditions.
Forward-Looking Takeaway
-
Bitcoin ETF streak: Following approximately $1.07 billion in inflows over three sessions, whether capital flows remain positive in subsequent sessions will be closely watched. Several more days of inflows could provide stronger evidence that the current recovery in demand is sustainable.
-
Ethereum’s network economy: Whether the decline in network revenue and DEX volume continues in subsequent quarters, while Ethereum maintains its tokenized-asset value, will be important. The continued use of Ethereum for settlement by newer chains should also be considered when assessing the impact of competition.
-
Ethereum ETF demand: The $14.9 million inflow on October 21 ended a five-session outflow streak. Whether positive flows continue will provide a clearer indication of whether institutional demand is undergoing a more durable change.
-
Stablecoin regulation: The OCC’s final GENIUS Act rule will take effect on January 18, 2027. The next stage will be how issuers adapt to the new reserve, reporting, risk-management and supervisory requirements. Expectations around AI-agent stablecoin usage should remain forward-looking until supported by actual transaction data.
