As of October 19, the
crypto market is showing a modest weekend recovery, with Bitcoin trading at around $82,600, Ethereum near $2,430 and XRP around $1.31. Meanwhile, Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs have recorded consecutive weekly outflows, while XRP ETFs have also ended a 13-week inflow streak. On the institutional infrastructure side, JPMorgan’s plan to expand its JPM Coin deposit token to the Ethereum network is drawing attention.
Market Perspective: Prices Recover While Fund Demand Remains Cautious
Bitcoin price moved back above $82,000 over the weekend after falling to around $80,800 on October 16. Ethereum also recovered above $2,400 after reaching a weekend low near $2,330. However, because US ETF markets were closed over the weekend, it is not yet clear whether this price recovery is being supported by renewed institutional fund inflows.
The broader fund data from the latest week still points to cautious short-term demand. Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs recorded combined outflows of approximately $549 million, while XRP funds posted their first weekly net outflow in three months. At the same time, the expansion of JPM Coin to Ethereum shows that traditional financial institutions continue to explore public blockchain infrastructure independently of price movements and ETF flows.
ETF Flows: Bitcoin and Ethereum End the Week in Negative Territory
According to Farside data, US spot
Bitcoin ETFs recorded $82.4 million in net outflows on October 16. Spot Ethereum ETFs recorded $69.7 million in net outflows on the same day. Combined net outflows across the two asset groups in the latest completed session therefore reached approximately $152.1 million.
Across the full October 12–16 week, Bitcoin ETFs recorded approximately $228.4 million in net outflows, while Ethereum ETFs saw approximately $320.1 million in net outflows. Combined weekly outflows across the two asset groups reached approximately $548.5 million. This is also consistent with Cointelegraph’s figure of roughly $549 million based on SoSoValue data.
According to SoSoValue data, net outflows from Ethereum ETFs have reached approximately $955 million in October. Despite this, both Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs remain in positive net-flow territory for 2026 as a whole. The recent outflows therefore indicate weaker short-term fund demand rather than the complete disappearance of long-term institutional interest.
Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF Outflow Streaks Extend
Bitcoin ETFs ended last week with approximately $229 million in net outflows, marking their second consecutive negative week.
Ethereum ETFs recorded around $320 million in outflows, extending their negative streak to three weeks. With combined outflows across the two asset groups having reached $1.22 billion in the previous week, the latest data shows that the pace of withdrawals has slowed, although fund demand has not yet returned to sustained positive territory.
Bitcoin’s return above $82,000 over the weekend also highlights that price action is not driven solely by ETF flows. Spot-market demand, global investor positioning and macroeconomic conditions continue to influence pricing.
The key question in the new week will be whether Bitcoin ETF flows, which have been negative for two consecutive weeks, return to inflows and whether Ethereum’s three-week outflow streak continues. Consistent flows across several sessions would provide a more meaningful indication of change than a single positive day.
JPM Coin Expands to the Ethereum Network
JPMorgan’s JPM Coin product, which digitally represents US dollar deposits held at the bank, is being expanded directly to the Ethereum network for institutional clients, according to information reported by Bloomberg. The token represents dollar deposits held at the bank and allows eligible institutional clients to transfer funds over blockchain networks around the clock.
JPMorgan has cited Ethereum’s liquidity and existing use among clients as factors behind the choice of network. JPM Coin can be used for blockchain-based payments, transaction settlement and collateral transfers. However, the product is not a public retail
stablecoin; It is a bank deposit token restricted to approved institutional participants.
The expansion provides another example of Ethereum’s growing role in institutional financial infrastructure. However, the use of JPM Coin on Ethereum does not imply a direct or guaranteed increase in demand for ETH. More meaningful indicators will include transaction volume, the number of active institutional users and actual settlement activity conducted on Ethereum.
The development also relates to global institutional payment and settlement infrastructure. It does not directly change the payment or crypto asset regulations currently in force in Türkiye. Payment services in Türkiye continue to be governed by the TCMB framework, while crypto asset service providers remain subject to SPK regulation and supervision.
XRP ETFs End Their 13-Week Inflow Streak
US spot XRP ETFs recorded approximately $1.84 million in net outflows during the October 12–16 week, ending a 13-week streak of uninterrupted inflows. Fund movements were largely flat early in the week, followed by an inflow of around $740,000 on Wednesday, while an approximately $2.47 million outflow on Friday pushed the weekly total into negative territory.
The size of the outflow remains limited compared with approximately $1.8 billion in cumulative net inflows into
XRP ETFs. A single negative week is therefore not enough to conclude that institutional demand for XRP has undergone a structural change. However, the end of the 13-week positive streak makes subsequent fund-flow data more important.
On the on-chain side, XRP Ledger payment volume fell to 119.5 million XRP on October 17. This represented a 72.3% decline from the previous day and was significantly below the 30-day average of approximately 629.3 million XRP. However, because payment volume has historically shown substantial day-to-day volatility, a single-day decline should not be interpreted as a permanent deterioration in network usage.
XRP is trading at around $1.31 on October 19. From here, whether ETF flows return to positive territory and whether on-chain payment activity recovers over several days should be assessed together.
CoinTR Insight
Today’s three developments show that institutional adoption and investment-fund demand are not the same thing in the crypto market. Short-term demand has weakened across Bitcoin, Ethereum and XRP funds, while the expansion of JPM Coin to Ethereum shows that traditional financial institutions continue to develop blockchain-based settlement infrastructure. In XRP, actual network usage also needs to be monitored alongside ETF flows.
During periods when fund flows and prices can change direction quickly, liquidity and gradual order management remain important. CoinTR’s deep liquidity infrastructure and strong
USDT/TRY trading flow are among the infrastructure features that support more controlled transaction management under changing market conditions.
Forward-Looking Takeaway
-
Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs: The market will watch whether the negative streaks, now at two weeks for Bitcoin and three weeks for Ethereum, continue into the new week. Inflows sustained across several sessions would provide a more meaningful indication of improving short-term fund demand.
-
JPM Coin activity on Ethereum: Following the expansion to Ethereum, institutional transaction volume, active client usage and new settlement use cases will be important. The existence of a technical integration alone does not imply direct price demand for ETH.
-
XRP ETF flows: The market will watch whether the modest $1.84 million outflow following the 13-week inflow streak remains limited to a single week. The direction of cumulative fund flows will be more meaningful than individual daily figures.
-
XRP Ledger activity: Following the sharp decline in payment volume on October 17, whether activity returns toward its 30-day average will be important. A single day of on-chain data is not sufficient to assess structural network usage.
